Helping Talent Blossom

Children in Polish orphanages are well supported with food, shelter and clothing. These are the basics of life. But how can we provide assistance which goes beyond the basics?

Our founder, Dr. Richarda Russ, believes we must not only help children with the essentials, but also give them a chance to be outstanding in their chosen fields.

The Polish Orphans Charity has therefore begun a program of educational grants for orphaned children who are blessed with special talents.

David Preston, the Canadian ambassador to Poland, presents one of the educational grants provided by the Polish Orphans Charity at a ceremony in Radom, 2007.
"These children need our help, because what seems natural for parents in Canada can represent a barrier to orphaned children,” says Dr. Russ. “We don’t even think about it when we sign our own children up for lessons in music, or dancing, or art. But for orphans, it’s a different story. Money to pay for an education or to buy supplies and equipment can be very hard to come by."

The Polish Orphans Charity has made grants of up to $10,000 available for orphans to continue their education in the arts. In 2007 and 2008, grants were presented to a number of children in Poland by Canadian Ambassador David Preston at ceremonies in Radom, Poland.

In 2009 we donated $20,000 in scholarships and we were able to double that in 2010 to $40,000!

Our Selection Committee is seeking candidates for these grants and is ready to evaluate applications. If you are interested, or know of an orphaned child who needs help to further his or her education, please fill out our application form and we will be in touch.
